Blogs have become a popular medium of self expression, and thousands of people are jumping on the blogging bandwagon. With diverse people creating their own blogs, there is an even wider variety of blog topics. Some write about personal feelings some about political issues while some about of music. There really are no limits to the topics you choose for your blog.
However, since it is after all a public platform, it is essential to consider the convenience of the visitors as well. The blog design should be created in such a way so that it is both pleasing and attractive for the visitor.
Color selection is an important aspect of the blog design, here’s how:

• Avoid black when selecting the background color, especially in that portion where the text is meant to be. It is very difficult to read texts which have a dark background even with a light colored font. Though the contrast is there, the combination is very hard on the eyes and most people would avoid reading with all that effort. Darker fonts on lighter backgrounds have a much better effect in comparison.
• Bright colors work well in creating a vibrant effect in the blog. However when used in the areas containing texts, they have unpleasant effect on the eye. Imagine reading a text written in bright pink in a background of bright orange, truly torturous!
• The avoidance of bright and dark colors is limited to only the areas having text. Otherwise they can easily be used at the sides of the blog, in the main blog. But make sure that these colors do not clash with your font colors so that it hurts the eyes.
• Often bloggers try to use different background color for different posts to add variety. However it is not such a great idea as it gives a very disjointed effect. Using a single background color for the whole blog creates a uniform effect so that it all looks part of the same blog design.
• The color selection also plays an important role in blog customization process. If your blog is trying to convey a particular mood or tone then an appropriate color would make it more prominent. So the visitors know exactly what to expect the moment they land on your blog.

Even though color selection may seem like a very minor detail in the whole blog design and blog customization process, you may have well understood the importance by now. Choose your colors wisely to establish the right image of your blog.
